IMPACTS OF CORONA VIRUS ON GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN (KEY IJP************062)
Abstract
The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused unprecedented disruptions to global supply chains, revealing vulnerabilities and reshaping dynamics across industries and regions. This thesis investigates the multifaceted impacts of COVID-19 on global supply chains, focusing on the challenges faced, adaptation strategies employed, and future implications for supply chain management.Through a comprehensive literature review and empirical analysis, this study examines the following key areas:Supply Chain Disruptions: Analysis of how COVID-19 disrupted supply chains, causing shortages, delays, and interruptions in production and distribution networks.Industry-Specific Impacts: Case studies highlighting sector-specific challenges and responses, including automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods.Risk Management and Resilience: Exploration of supply chain strategies to enhance resilience, such as nearshoring, supplier diversification, and adoption of digital technologies for remote monitoring and management.Geopolitical and Economic Implications: Assessment of how trade policies, tariffs, and geopolitical tensions influenced global supply chain dynamics during the pandemic.Sustainability and Innovation: Examination of sustainability efforts within supply chains post-COVID-19, including shifts towards greener transportation modes and waste reduction initiatives.
